Kumiko
Ida graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London
with honours in 1992, she studied Piano with Hamish Milne,
also with Joseph Seiger, ( an honorary Proffessor of the
R.A.M. ), and the late Alexander Kelly. Kumiko also studied
Chamber Music with Michael Dussek, and during her studies
at the R.A.M. she won many prizes including the John Ireland
prize and also participated in numerous Master Classes
given by many of the worlds leading Concert Pianists.
In 2002, she released two C.D's as part of a Japanese
Composers series, the works of Koscak Yamada ( piano quintet.)
and Kazuo Yamada ( piano and chamber music works.), on
the Tokyo based Mittenwald label. Then in 2003, Kumiko
released her C.D."Lotusland"also on Mittenwald, a 20th
Century British Piano Album (of such composers as Berkeley,
Britten, Bax and Bridge, etc...) to very favourable critical
aclaim both in Japan and the U.K. She gave a concert recital
to promote "Lotusland" at the Yamaha store in Ginza (Tokyo)
and was a great success. Kumiko then followed this in
the autumn of 2003 with a piano duo recital at the prestigious
Oji Hall in Ginza, with the British Music Society's Chairman,
as guest artiste. Between 2004 and 2005, Kumiko gave a
number of concerts, including festivals both in Japan
and the U.K., she is now also currently studying in the
U.K. with world renowned concert pianist Peter Katin.
She has recently embarked on a long term recording project
on the British Composer, Sir Lennox Berkeley, and has
recently been appointed to the Committee of the Lennox
Berkeley Society. Kumiko, for all her concert and recording
commitments has chosen Steinway, and is a registered Steinway
artiste.
